We're fire and ice, the dream won't come true.

I made a birthday cd, as is my birthday custom, and this year's selection included Judy Garland's Get Happy. I don't understand this song. For those of you who haven't heard it, it involves a zany Judy singing excitedly about .... the judgement day. Maybe the many years that I spent as a young, mulleted Anglican weren't as informative as I previously thought because I was under the impression that Judgement Day involved a lot of pestilence and burning and death from above, possibly at the robotic hands of THE TERMINATOR. Likewise, "Forget your troubles, come on get happy" is probably going to be a bit of a chore if you're BURNING ALIVE UNDER A PLAGUE OF PUS-FILLED, BUBBLING SORES. *

I also put Cryin' on there, which is a particularly awesome gem from the Dirty Dancing Soundtrack. If you listen to it, the entire Sovereign Family would entirely recommend closing your eyes and doing a dance move that kind of resembles humping the air. Trust me though, it looks classier than it sounds. Much classier. Ready for church classier.

If I could change my name to anything, I'd change it to Josephine. There are tons of awesome songs about girls named Josephine, one of which is done by the Wallflowers and is on my cd. There are some awesome songs about girls named Sarah, too, but they are only awesome if you've done about a mountain of coke and gone back in time to 1987 under the false impression that you've built your city on rock n' roll. I hate the Sara of Jefferson Starship fame. This one time, back in the 80s, Melissa's brother Dan started singing it to me and I freaked out, hopped the backyard fence and ran home crying. And then my brain exploded. I'm pretty lucky to be alive to tell the tale actually.

Years later I would discover the Bob Dylan Sarah song and I'd feel much better about things. I did put Like A Rolling Stone on my cd, although my current all time favourite Bob Dylan song is All Along the Watchtower.

All this blogging has made me tired and now I need a nap.

*I came so close to describing puss-filled as "pussy" you just don't even realize.

When Bob was angry, did he ever sing, "So hard to look at, so easy to define"?

ImageHi. My name is Sarah
and I live by the sea. I like pirates and vikings and my audio cassette tape player. I am 25 years old and pretty much covered in sand all the time. Also, I like cookies. My profile.

ImageHey Sarah, what are ye listening to?
Lots and lots o' stuff, like St. Germain's "So Flute" and "Ghosts" by Ladytron. I can't believe Robyn is out with new stuff and it doesn't make me want to show her love by jabbing rusted forks into my eyes. It's actually really catchy and kind of endearing. I have been looking up the songs from So You Think You Can Dance all year, too, because it's all awesome and at heart, I'm still a spandexed little dancer ready to punch Annie in the face and show Daddy Warbucks a thing or two about tap musicals.

ImageI'M READING:
Walking Dead:

Frigging awesome. One of the best books about the Zombocalypse I've ever read (one of the only good books about the Zombpocalypse I've ever read). I think there's something about zombies that is so hard to construe via text ... I mean, honestly, you can only use the word "purtrid" so much, and the visual, awesome aid of comics really helps.

ImageI'M SEEING:
Quarantine, a movie that's kind of the equivalent to being on the Disney spinning teacup ride, except, also, there are RABID ZOMBIES ON BOARD. Honestly, I missed quite a bit of this movie because I spent a good portion of it with my head nestled into my boyfriend's armpit attempting not to vomit. The camera movement is, at times, insanely choppy and all over the place, and those of you prone to motion sickness, you might want to skip this one. I'd give it about 2 1/2 stars out of 5, because it's decent -- I'd even watch it again if I could keep the room from spinning.

ImageBOOK CLUB!:
The Kite Runner. I love this book. It wasn't necessarily a book I'd choose to read (these days I appear to be more interested in books geared towards teenage girls.), but I'm so glad I did. Beautiful writing. Next choice... I'm going to volunteer the Bell Jar because IT'S THE BEST BOOK EVER.
